Robert MacDonald serves as Marina Utilities’ Owner and General Manager, overseeing the firm’s unique niche as a leader in the design and provision of marina utilities. Robert brings more than twenty (+20) years of professional marine and marina utilities design and contracting experience to the Marina Utilities firm that began its 35 year history as Dave Lincoln Contracting.

Robert received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in business finance, marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Robert has more than 20 years experience in construction and utilities and the design and maintenance of utility systems. Throughout his career, he has specialized in the design of utility systems and marina utility systems, standpipes, water, electric and sewer, and the design and fabrication of custom components, fittings and piping systems.

As owner of Marina Utilities, Robert is charged with keeping the firm focused on its core mission of delivering quality marina utilities to the leaders in the marina industry. Marina Utilities provides contracting and sub-contracting of marina utilities, both retrofit and new construction services to marina developers, owners and contractors.

Robert oversees the firm in their role in marina utilities design and permitting, including comprehensive planning and consultation on marinas and docks, design and layout of piping systems, design and construction administration and funding and agency coordination. His firm has designed or been responsible for the provision of marina utilities to over 300 projects totaling more than $1 billion in construction cost in the United States and around the world.

Marina Utilities is known for quality construction and installation, custom fabrication of components necessary for marina construction and for their breadth of experience in the provision of marina utilities to over 300 marinas in FL and the Caribbean basin, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas.

Just prior to his ownership of Marina Utilities, Robert contributed eight years with the firm JEA, the eighth largest community-owned utility in America, in the provision of water, sewer and electric utilities for the City of Jacksonville, FL.

Robert is a featured speaker at the International Marina Institute (IMI): 2009 Emerging Applied Technologies Conference, presenting Better Safe than Sorry: New Techniques in Marina Fire Protection; and at the 2009 International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) panel: Economic Incentives: How to Capitalize on Getting Grants for Marina Upgrades.

Robert offers several notable lecture programs including: Obtaining Federal Grant Money for Clean Marina Programs; Life Cycle Costing for Marina Utilities; and Factors for Consideration in the Selection of Piping and Fittings for the Marina and Marina Environment. In 2009, Marina Utilities will offer a video presentation, Introduction to the Marina Environment, covering such topics as saltwater and weather factors in the marine/marina environment, and a specific evaluation of components for marina utilities including metal vs. plastic/HDPE vs. PVC.

Marina Utilities provides a one year Warranty and a 1/2 day educational and operational training program for owners and operators: How to Operate and Maintain Sewer Pumpout Systems.


As a leader in the advisory and delivery of services for the marina industry, Robert participates in trade and industry conferences, conducts numerous seminars on topics specific to the industry, and provides seasonal internship programs for engineers.
